GUEST ARTIST

FRANCIS ROBSON

Francis Robson is a fine artist and musician living and working in rural Northumberland. He boasts descent from the border rivers and is immersed in the border region between Scotland and England, his work reflecting his passion for the landscape and history which surround him.

He studied art at Sunderland Polytechnic (now the University of Sunderland) and music at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Colour and form are of primary importance to his work. Landscapes are simple and ask the observer to feel the land. Seascapes are busy, bursting with life and history. Many of his images are related directly to his childhood memories of people and places, others are inspired by more recent memories made while raising his own family in the region.

As well as displaying his work in numerous commercial outlets around Northumberland, Francis has had larger exhibitions at Wallington Hall (National Trust) and Pebbles Gallery in Allendale. He continues to paint and compose work which reflects his passion for his environment and its history, currently working on a project which relates to the people and places along Hadrian’s Wall.
