Welcome to Aries Gallery

Alan and Norah Bowmer have combined their passions for photography and machine embroidery, the results of which can be seen on display at their Aries Gallery in Harray, Orkney. Here you will find images of dramatic landscapes, seascapes and wildlife captured from Orkney’s rich diversity of photo opportunities to scenes from around the world, as both have travelled extensively with their cameras.

The images on display at the gallery are available to purchase as stretched canvases, pH neutral mounted prints or rolled prints, with a wide selection of media types and sizes to choose from.

Orders for custom sizes are welcome, and we print customers own images so please call to discuss your requirements.

The range of images available will vary from time to time, as each trip they undertake adds new and exciting images to the collection.

Also available is polypropylene self-adhesive film for specialist applications such as signage.

Please note the gallery is closed to the public until 1 September 2020. In the meantime we are taking on-line sales via our website, email or by phone.

We have been working to achieve the Industry Standard “We’re Good to Go” mark by completing a risk assessment and putting the necessary Covid-19 measures in place in line with the government and industry COVID-19 guidelines.

Embroidered goods range from soft furnishings such as tableware, towels and lampshades to flora and fauna wall art to delicate free-standing lace pendant and earring sets with silk thread and sterling silver fittings, all with a range of designs and colour-schemes to choose from. New items and “specials” will be added periodically, so come back to view this website regularly.

Monograms, names and logos can be embroidered onto goods, so please call to discuss your requirements.

If you are visiting the gallery you will receive a warm welcome, an offer of coffee/tea and have the opportunity to watch work in progress through the viewing window into their “cozy” workshop where you may see the 2-foot wide canvas printer and/or the 10-needle embroidery machine in operation.

Looking for something special and have an idea in mind? – call or email us.

We plan to re-open the gallery  to the public on 1 September 2020.

Measures in place include limiting visitor numbers in the gallery, having social distancing and one-way floor markings, providing hand sanitiser and having a public surfaces cleaning regime in place, all clearly signed.
